It’s simple! Dig a 12-18” hole using post-hole diggers. Place your 4x4 PVC post in the ground, check that it’s level, then fill with dirt. That’s it. There’s no need for concrete (unless in extreme environments). And there’s no need for a 4x4 wooden insert.

A bit of everything! In the Southeast you may see: Cardinals, blue birds, blue jays, titmouse, chickadees, sparrows, and finches - to name a few.

Lowe’s Home Improvement or your local hardware store will carry a 4x4 vinyl sleeve. We recommend the six foot length. It should cost no more than $20. Given its length, it costs more to ship than you can buy it for.
